What do clowns mean in dreams

I had a dream about a guy who put on a scary clown costume and would hide in the basement of an old abandon house, then if people would go into the basement, they'ed get taken by the clown guy and never be heard from again. What if you are driving and being chased by a clown that is shooting at you..

In my dream a clown had eaten my mother. I've started crying and even waking up in a sweat. After I fall asleep the same dream happened over and over. This happened when I broke up with my boyfriend. I've been having consistent dreams of this one particular clown. In real life- I'm very afraid of clowns but in this dream, I talk to him and he says things to me- oddly enough I can't quite remember but they are things about my life- I think maybe my complicated relationship I currently have.

And towards the end of every dream- he scares me. It's always different but he scares me in some sort of way- like changing his demeanor or appearance and it usually wakes me up. This last one I literally just woke up from he was warning me my boyfriend was coming and to be quiet.

And then scared me- I woke up and not even kidding my boyfriend was at the bedroom door irritated that I was napping.

What the hell is going on? I had a dream about a clown but I guess the clown knew I was dreaming because she said something like "Having a hard time waking up and she laughed. I finally woke up because I had a hard time waking up which is why she said that but what does this mean? I had a dream that I lived in a place where my walls were windows and outside the window was an abyss but 30 feet away about there was a circus with scary clowns that wanted to get to me but couldn't Dreaming of performing as a clown in front of people — If you dreamed of performing as a clown in front of an audience, that dream is often a bad sign, indicating misfortune and bad luck you could soon experience.
